Fair Cape Dairies It is with immense pride and heartfelt conviction that I nominate my wife, Shanawaaz Leeman , for the Local Hero Award. Shanawaaz is a true champion for the most vulnerable in our community, a tireless advocate who is building a brighter future for neurodivergent children, one cupcake sale at a time. Shanawaaz identified a critical and often overlooked gap in our community's support system: the lack of continued educational and developmental spaces for children on the autism spectrum after they graduate from preschool. For many families, this transition marks a point of immense uncertainty, leaving them with few or no options for their children's continued growth. Driven by a powerful belief that a diagnosis does not define a child's potential, Shanawaaz refused to accept this reality. She founded Cloudberry Connect , a project born from a mother's love and a community leader's vision. Cloudberry Connect is more than just an initiative; it is a promise to these children and their families—a promise of a safe haven where they can receive the quality education and support they deserve, just like any other child. What makes Shanawaaz a hero is not just her vision, but her relentless action. To bring this dream to life, she has poured her heart and soul into a grassroots fundraising campaign. She is the driving force behind a BackABuddy campaign, and she tirelessly organizes monthly rummage sales, raffles, and cupcake sales. Every rand raised from these efforts is a step closer to converting their family garage into a meaningful, purpose-built space for children on the spectrum. This isn't a large-scale, corporate-backed charity; it is a profound act of community-building starting from her own home. She is fighting to give these incredible children a space to learn, thrive, and be understood. Winning this award would be so much more than a recognition of her hard work. The prize money would make a significant dent in her fundraising goals, accelerating the transformation of a simple garage into a sanctuary of learning and acceptance. It would directly impact the lives of children who currently have nowhere else to turn, providing them with the opportunity they so richly deserve. Shanawaaz Leeman embodies the very essence of a local hero: she saw a need, she created a solution, and she inspires others to believe in a better, more inclusive world. I wholeheartedly believe she is the most deserving candidate for this honour. #FairCapeLocalHero #HeartOfthecommunity #DogoodFeelGood #LocalHeroChallenge

I would like to nominate Amelia Williams she does so much in her community and I love her kind heart and generosity. She collects clothes and shoes to hand out to the less fortunate. She also does a soup kitchen in different sections of the community and tries to feed as much people as she can. For the school holidays she had a program to teach how to make new things from reusable items. And during the warmer days she forms part of a group that teaches people in the area to grow their own vegetables and herbs. She loves to give back and loves helping people, she is always active in the community and I aspire to be like her one day.

I nominate Tebogo Jojo Matsepa a young man in my community who has become a true Local Hero. He selflessly cares for his 90-year-old bedridden Grandmother. He gave up his job, his freedom, and his youth to care for the one person who once nurtured him. He dedicated himself fully to her wellbeing, ensuring she receives love, dignity and his 24/7 attention. He does this alone, with only limited resources and while waiting for placement in a government old age home. I truly admire him because he chose love. Quietly, without praise, he carries a responsibility most would run from. In my eyes, he is a silent warrior, A true Local Hero. Please help me give him the recognition he’s never asked for but so deeply deserves. 💛 #FairCapeLocalHero #HeartOfTheCommunity #DoGoodFeelGood #LocalHeroChallenge

Let’s rewind to January 1997… when Fair Lady magazine put seven strawberry yoghurts to the test in a blind tasting with 75 judges. 🍓🥄
The result? Fair Cape came out tops, not just overall, but in the categories of appearance, texture, and taste. 👑
Decades later, we’re still making yoghurt that looks good, feels right and tastes like a winner.
Because great taste never goes out of style. 😊
